Background:
Renée is a 3rd year student at the Schulich School of Law. As part of the Indigenous, Black and Mi’kmaq Initiative (IB&M), diversity and advocacy are core to how she conducts herself personally and professionally.
At initio, Renée is excited to work with small businesses and non-profits developing a practice in corporate law. She has experience supporting executives in varied industries to build teams and programs that support their mission. With a background in criminology, public administration and entrepreneurship, Renée understands the importance of flexibility and intentionality through various interests. She does this with a creative approach to problem-solving.
Renée is currently completing a Master of Public Administration alongside the JD and has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Saint Mary’s. She has worked as in community as program coordinator for women’s health services using her insights of community safety for strategic resource creation. Additionally, as a business advisor, Renée has consulted on matters that focused on implementing policies and mitigating risks.
With a passion for community led initiatives and alternative change directives, Renée sits on two volunteer boards: the African Descent Advisory Committee in HRM and the Regional Ethnocultural Advisory Committee for Correction Service Canada.
In her free time, you can find Renée on a hike with her dog, working on a new project or travelling to new places.
