Take It or Leave It: What Future Lawyers Need to Know

Law Hour at the Schulich School of Law is excited to welcome Alayna Kolodziechuk (they/them) this Thursday, September 12th for a discussion on entertainment law.

Whether Rihanna and her accountant, Kanye and Adidas, Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun - we’ve all seen a headline or two about a high profile artist embroiled in one legal dispute or another. But what’s really going on behind the scenes, legally speaking? Are any of the flashy headlines true? This will be an engaging discussion about famous disputes and what entertainment law can teach us all about legal reasoning, understanding money, and why there is always room for advocacy and negotiation, even in the context of take-it-or-leave-it deals.

Alayna is the Director of the initio Technology and Innovation Law Clinic at the Schulich School of Law. Alayna has been practicing for more than a decade as a corporate commercial lawyer with a focus on technology, IP and privacy matters. Before joining as clinical Director, Alayna oversaw the corporate department of a well-known entertainment law firm in Toronto, ON.

This event is located in room W104 at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University, 6061 University Ave, Halifax, NS B3H 4R2.
